A Community of Scholars

MARS (Medieval and Renaissance Studies) is a research group composed of BYU faculty members devoted to the study of European culture and history during the medieval and early modern periods (roughly 450-1700 AD). MARS draws on faculty from various departments throughout the university, including English; French & Italian; Spanish & Portuguese; History; Humanities, Classics, and Comparative Literature; Philosophy; and Visual Arts. MARS encourages scholarship through colloquia, guest lecturers, and the frequent exchange of ideas among its members. MARS also invites interested graduate and advanced undergraduate students to participate in its activities.
